This year’s BERL Award for Excellence in Collaborating for Results entries demonstrate the willingness of the sector to collaborate and share.

“It has long been true that of the strengths of the sector has been its willingness to collaborate and share with each other, said Taituarā Chief Advisor Raymond Horan.

“The entries this year reflect just how much and how well the sector partners with others to deliver.”

This Award recognises projects that demonstrate collaboration with other agencies. A diverse range of partners feature in this year’s entries including the Department of Corrections, the Historic Places Trust, two surf lifesaving clubs, a school, and a social services trust.

“No one sector or group has all the answers to the policy and service challenges of the 21st century, said Raymond.

“This year’s entries include two climate resilience themed entries – adaptation in a coastal flooding zone, and a mana enhancing programme for erosion and flood protection.”

“But the majority showcase councils and their partners coming together to deliver a facility the community can be proud of. In several cases that has involved repurposing an existing facility that had seen better days. Making the most of what’s available in a ‘can do’ way is another strength of the sector.”

The winner of this Award, the other six category winners and LGFA Taituarā Local Government Excellence Awards® will be announced at the Taituarā Gala Dinner and Excellence Awards at the Dominion Museum in Wellington on 13 June. If you would like to be a part of this celebration of excellence, more information is available here.

This Award and the Gala Dinner would not be possible without the sponsorship of BERL, a returning sponsor. We thank them for their support.
