A diverse range of digital tools and applications make up the entries for this year’s Datacom Award for Excellence in Digital Local Government.
The Award recognises projects that have achieved successful results from the application of digital or technological solutions.
The entries include an app bringing together 70 council datasets, a digital campaign promoting local elections, an intelligence tool to support civil defence in Tairāwhiti, a virtual reality-based education tool, and computer modelling of council buildings in Napier.
“The power of technology to empower, to inform, to transform, and to generate great outcomes is never better illustrated than in this year’s entries, said Taituarā Chief Advisor, Raymond Horan says.
“This is a category that the sector looks at closely as a source of ideas and inspiration. Previous winners have featured the use of digital twin technology and various applications of the internet of things. These have served as a model for others in the sector to pick up – including some of this year’s entrants.”
