We are pleased to be reinstating our Distinguished Awards after a hiatus of a few years. The Taituarā Executive will present two awards to members whose contributions to the sector and to Taituarā are worthy of recognition.


2023 Distinguished Management Award

Barbara McKerrow of Wellington City Council was announced as the winner of the 2023 Distinguished Management Award during our annual Gala Dinner in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington on 8 June 2023. 

The President's Award for Distinguished Contribution to Taituarā was not awarded in 2023.

Criteria for receiving the Distinguished Management Award

  • the nominee has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of local government management in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • this recognition of this contribution is made by more than one local authority
  • any member of Taituarā is eligible for nomination
  • nominations can come from any member, branch, or local authority, but must be accompanied by a report endorsing the nominee's achievements as well as supporting letters from at least two local authorities.

Criteria for receiving the President's Award for Distinguished Contribution to Taituarā

  • the nominee has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of Taituarā operations over an extended period of time (e.g. through a working party, branch activities etc)
  • any member of Taituarā is eligible for nomination
  • this contribution is easily recognisable by Taituarā members
  • nomination for this award can come from any member, branch, or local authority and should be supported by a brief summary of the nominee's contribution to Taituarā.
