SOLGM's LG How Local Government Works (LGHowLocalGovernmentWork®) programme is a fantastic online suite of e-learning courses aimed at introducing both new and existing employees to the legislative environment of local government.
Since launching the programme, over 50% of councils have subscribed and are rolling it out as part of their induction programme.

The programme comprises six e-learning courses, covering a variety of topics and providing an understanding of what makes local government different from any other sector.
There's something for everyone, as the programme has been specifically designed in such a way that it can form part of a standard council induction programme for all staff, regardless of their role, location or area of expertise. The programme is also beneficial for those moving to a new role in a different area of local government.

- It gave a broad overview of a variety of important topics of the role and function of local government.
- The content is broad and high level. The step-through process in the screens is interesting and keeps you engaged. The bite sized chunks of information between quizzes is manageable for an online course. I find it hard to fault.
- The course provided a very helpful foundation for my new role in local government.
