The JLT Australasian Management Challenge has been helping local government professionals to grow and learn or over 20 years. Each year Taituarā runs the New Zealand leg of the Challenge, and this year is no exception – although for a while we thought it might be!!

We are delighted to confirm that on Tuesday 21st July, six teams from councils across the country will take part in the Challenge, testing themselves with ‘real-life’ tasks in a fast-paced virtual environment. The Challenge has been adapted this year to take advantage of new and emerging ways of working that have accelerated through the COVID pandemic, whilst still providing the core benefits of building stronger teams, and developing leaders across the sector.

The teams taking part this year are from…

  • Hauraki District Council
  • Tauranga City Council
  • Napier City Council
  • Bay of Plenty Regional Council
  • Invercargill City Council
  • Hutt City Council

The winners of the NZ leg go on to compete against winning teams from the seven Australian states who are also holding virtual Challenges this year. New Zealand teams have an exceptional record at the finals with three firsts in recent years!

We wish all the teams the very best of luck as they compete against each other this year, and will look forward to announcing the winners who will represent NZ at the finals later this year.
