Taituarã is pleased with the excellent response to a call for entries into the 2017 McGredy Winder Taituarã Local Government Excellence Awards ®. When entries closed on 1 February Taituarã had received 33 entries across the six available categories, two more than received in 2016.
Taituarã`s Sector Improvement Manager, Raymond Horan reports that entries included a diverse mix of projects across the full range of local authority activities from a digital repository to flood remediation to joint procurement.
As always the Council/Community Relations Award category will be particularly competitive with 13 entries. Competition will also be tough in the Transforming Service Delivery category (sponsored by the Local Government Funding Agency) and the Collaborative Government Action category (sponsored by BERL)," Mr Horan said.
The other categories in this year`s Awards are the Innovation in Organisation and People Development category, the Innovation in Policy and Regulatory Development category and this year`s new category, the Minister of Local Government`s Award for Innovation in Asset Management. This recognises strategies, plans, processes or techniques for managing assets that are innovative and transferable to other local authorities.
The 2017 Supreme Award Winner will be selected from amongst the six category winners and will be announced at the Taituarã Gala Dinner to be held at the Langham in Auckland on 12 April.
The Taituarã Gala Dinner is also the night when the recipients of other Taituarã awards and scholarships are announced including:
- the winning team in the New Zealand leg of the Australasian Management Challenge
- the winner of the Brookfields Emerging Leader of the Year Award
- the recipients of Taituarã`s Overseas Manager Exchanges, and Leadership Scholarships.
