Pulse November 2016

We're pleased to provide the November 2016 issue of our twice-yearly magazine, Pulse. It's available in our website here.

In this issue we have:

> a number of articles on our September Summit. The theme was Inspiring Leadership and we certainly had some inspiring speakers including Monica Barone, Sydney City Chief Executive, Phil O'Reilly, former Chief Executive of BusinessNZ and Jenny and Paul McDonald, who together gave a fascinating presentation on brain-based leadership. Summit articles start on page 29.

> an article written by our own Sector Improvement Advisor, Shivani Makwana who interviewed three inspiring women, all in leadership roles in local government. Find out what Patricia Reade, Katherine Quinn and Anusha Guler had to say about their careers in the sector on page 6.

> an article on ICT infrastructure, an important issue for all councils and a challenging issue for many. Four councils in the Wellington region have come together to work on a solution that they expect will be applicable in councils across New Zealand - the Collaborating on ICT article is on page 10.

> information on everything being announced at our Gala Dinner on the 12th of April in Auckland. Starting on page 14 you can read about entering our 2017 McGredy Winder Taituarã Local Government Excellence Awards (p.16) and the Australasian Management Challenge (p.22) and about applying for our Leadership Scholarships and Overseas Manager Exchanges (p.19) and submitting a nomination for our Brookfields Emerging Leader of the Year Award (p.18).

> an update on the work of our Sector Improvement team is on page 7.

As well there's some valuable articles provided by our partner organisations and a full list of our events and activities right through to our 2017 annual Summit in September 2017.

We're very happy to consider articles from councils on topics of national interest for publishing in Pulse. Please contact me if you'd like more information.
