We opened entries for most of our Awards, Leadership Scholarships and Overseas Manager Exchanges back in October to give everyone plenty of time to get entries in by the close date of 1 February 2017. However many of you will be taking a break over summer and if that deadline falls during your break or perhaps during the break of key colleagues, this is a reminder to note the date in your calendars and consider sending your entries in early.

We're seeking entries or nominations for:

> The 2017 McGredy Winder SOLGM Local Government Excellence Awards which recognises innovative projects in the sector across six categories. You can find full information and the entry form here. Check out the winning entries from the 2016 Awards at the bottom of that page as well - they'll provide some ideas as to what a winning entry looks like.

> The Brookfields Emerging Leader of the Year Award which comes with it travel to the 2017 ICMA international conference in Texas. You can find the criteria and the nomination form here.

> Two Leadership Scholarships, one to the Mt Eliza Melbourne Business School's Leading for Strategic Success programme (sponsored by the Skills Organisation) and one to the Leadership Development Centre's Leadership in Practice programme. More information and the entry forms are available here.

> Four Overseas Manager Exchanges to the US, Australia and Canada (sponsored by Civic Assurance and JLT). The entry forms and criteria can be found here.

All of these, as well as the winning team in the NZ leg of the Australasian Management Challenge, will be announced at our annual Gala Dinner on 12 April 2017 in Auckland. You can already purchase tickets for this special event, which sold out when we held it earlier this year, here.

Regarding the Management Challenge and my newsletter of last week, LGProfessionals Australia have confirmed that the pre-Challenge task is being released to registered teams on 15 December. Teams can register here (tip: you don't need to have all team member names yet to register).

Professional Administrators Forum on 11 & 12 May in Auckland: We've recently added NZ Herald Well-being columnist, Louise Thompson and Robyn Bennett, who will be taking delegates through practical exercises on minute taking, to the programme so it's now final.
