Entries for the 2017 McGredy Winder Taituarã Local Government Excellence Awards ® are now open.These long running Award recognise the exceptional and innovative local government projects across local government in New Zealand.

This year we are introducing the Minister of Local Government Innovation in Asset Management Award project category alongside the existing five categories:

  • Innovation in Organisation and People Development Award
  • LGFA Transforming Service Delivery Award> Innovation in Council - Community Relations Award
  • BERL Collaborative Government Action Award
  • Innovation in Policy and Regulator Development Award

Also opened for entries is the Brookfields Emerging Leader of the Year Award which is being presented for the second time.This year the winner of this award will receive, with the support of Brookfields, travel to the 2017 International City/County Managers Association (ICMA) annual conference in the USA.The award is presented to an emerging leader aged 35 or under who has a proven track record of designing or delivering innovative and successful programmes, projects, processes or practices with an identifiable community impact.The Nomination Form and the terms and conditions of entry can be found in our website here.

Taituarã's Leadership Scholarship & Overseas Manager Exchanges have also been opened for entries – these once-a-year opportunities to gain either a place on one of two leadership programmes or take part in an overseas exchange with a local government professional in Canada, the USA or Australia.

In partnership the Skills Organisation one Taituarã member will attend the prestigious Mt Eliza Melbourne Business School's Leading for Strategic Success Programme – the business school’s most senior leadership programme. The second opportunity, provided in partnership with the Leadership Development Centre (LDC) is a place on their Leadership in Practice Programme. With the on-going support of sponsors JLT and Civic Assurance we are again offering four exchanges in 2017. These exchanges involve the hosting of a local government professional from British Columbia (Canada), the USA or Australia while our 2017 Summit is on in October and a reciprocal visit to their country during their relevant annual conference.
