9.00am Registration

9.30am Introduction
Raymond Horan, Chief Advisor, Taituarā

In this introductory session we’ll cover the fundamentals including:
- Taituarā's six ground rules for the LTP
- the 2021 LTP jigsaw
- Taituarā's suite of LTP guidance (and other useful resources)
- the LTP process
- and a few things that might 'pop' between now and June 2021

9.50am Well-being, Performance and the LTP
Kate Macnaught, Manager Sector Improvement, Taituarā

The well-beings are back (as if they went away) – there is an expectation that they’ll factor not only into what you agree to do for your community but also in the processes that you’ll follow to take people with you. The formal opening session will cover well-being, its linkage to the performance framework, and how Taituarā can help.

10.40am Morning Tea

11.00am Infrastructure Strategies and Asset Management
Raymond Horan, Chief Advisor, Taituarā

This is the first of a two-part session looking at strategies. In this part we focus on infrastructure strategies, where the focus lies, aligning with the financial strategy. We’ll also look at the other asset management requirements.

11.50pm Financial Strategies and Financial Information
Stephen Halliwell, Director, Working Smarter

The second part of the session looks at the other side of the coin and covers the financial strategy and its flow into financial policies, financial statements etc. In particular we’ll cover off turning a set of disjointed disclosures into one coherent strategy.

12.40pm Lunch

1.20pm Consultation Documents and Engaging on an LTP
Raymond Horan, Chief Adviser, Taituarā

Consultation Documents bring key pieces of information out of your LTP. In this session the Taituarā team will guide you through some of the lessons learnt over the last several years and some best practices.

2.10pm Audit
Hugh Jory, Sector Manager, Office of the Auditor-General

This session will focus on the auditor’s key observations from the 2018 LTP round and will take you through the audit process for the 2021 LTPs. An early indication of what to expect over the next eighteen months...

Note: We will be opening registrations to the three providers of audits in local authorities.

3.00pm Last Chance Saloon

An opportunity to ask any final questions, raise any concerns or burning issues.

3.20pm Summing Up
Raymond Horan, Chief Advisor, Taituarā

All good things must come to an end. The day will be wrapped up with some key take home points.
