About this event

This one day seminar is an opportunity for local authorities nationwide to come together and discuss the implications of the Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Bill (2), also known as the Better Local Services Legislation. The Amendment Bill looks at:

  • extending the role of the Local Government Commission to re-organise local authorities,
  • establishment of CCOs across councils, including the transfer of functions,
  • accountability requirements for new and existing CCOs,
  • amalgamation process,
  • extension of regulations and the creation of more financial and non-financial benchmarks and performance measures.

This event will explore these changes through a series of discussions and plenary sessions. The Better Local Services Seminar is an opportunity to learn about the Bill and its implications, and to contribute to the development of the local government sector’s submission on the Bill.

Please note that this event is primarily for councils, attendance by external parties will be Taituarā invitation only.
