Gisborne District Councils 2018 LTP consultation document WTF? - What's the Future Tairāwhiti? is the winner of the 2018 Taituarã Great CD Competition.

Gisborne's CD was selected from amongst a record 56 entries. Competition was extremely close this year with five councils, including previous winner Timaru District Council, clustered at the top.

The judges said "This CD is bright, colourful, and provocative. The selection of issues and the use of clever design both demonstrated a knowledge of the intended audience and what it's interested in. It is an easy and not overly long read. The presentation of a financial strategy was simple and effective. An LTP doesn't take place in vacuum and this CD has struck a successful balance of what has gone before and shapes or constrains the plan, with the future direction of the community".

In addition to announcing Gisborne District Council as the winner, the judges also awarded highly commended citations to Hauraki District Council, Waimate District Council and Waipa District Council.

Past winners of this award include Timaru District Council, Waitaki District Council and the Tauranga City Council.

Taituarã has permission to display these CDs and the other finalists on the Taituarã website. The design ideas and approaches that these councils, and the other finalists have shown will serve as an inspiration for other local authorities and will be reflected in Taituarã's next rewrite of its long-term planning guidance.
