For mid tier local government leaders wanting to excel in their leadership role.
Part of SOLGM's LGLeadershipPathways.
LG Accelerated Leadership is a highly interactive, practical programme designed to allow participants to discuss and debate the qualities and behaviours of great leaders. It focusses on authentic leadership, making a difference in their role, and delivering results for their councils. Participants enjoy local government focussed content including senior leader speakers who share and discuss their experience as it applies to each topic. It is also expected that participants come willing to discuss issues and challenges they face under Chatham House Rule.
- Five face-to-face workshops make up the programme and are delivered over a five month period.
- There is a gap between each workshop where participants implement key learnings in their workplace with the support of their line manager.
- Individuals are grouped into small learning syndicates that meet between workshops to reflect on learning content and how it applys to their council and leadership context.
- Participants can, with some additional work, gain the New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) through the Skills Organisation. The majority of the qualification is obtained through attendance of the programme and completion of programme exercises which are then externally assessed.
