33 Entries into the 2019 Excellence Awards

Taituarã has received 33 entries into the 2019 McGredy Winder Taituarã Local Government Excellence Awards® covering everything from a smokefree environments policy and emergency management, to a set of regional trails.

"Civil defence and emergency management is certainly topical at the moment", said Taituarã's Chief Advisor Raymond Horan.

"We were also pleased to see the importance of collaboration with other government agencies, with a record number of entries in our Collaborative Government Action category (sponsored by BERL), and joint entries in other categories.

"As always the competition for the Innovation in Council - Community Relations category will be particularly intense with 12 entries. This will be awarded by the Minister of Local Government."

Raymond notes that the level of interest from smaller councils has been significantly higher this year.

The winners of these awards, and the other four categories (the Capability Group Award for Organisation and People Development, the GHD Award for Asset Management, the LGFA Award for Transforming Service Delivery, and the Tompkins Wake Award for Better Policy and Regulation) will be announced at the Taituarã Gala Dinner to be held at the Pullman Hotel, Auckland on 11 April, along with the 2019 McGredy Winder Taituarã Local Government Excellence Awards® Supreme winner.

The Taituarã Gala Dinner is also the night when the recipients of other Taituarã awards, exchanges and scholarships are announced including:

  • the winner of the Brookfields Emerging Leader of the Year Award
  • the recipients of Taituarã's Overseas Manager Exchanges, and Leadership Scholarships (sponsored by JLT and Civic Financial Services)
  • The Skills Melbourne Business School Leadership
