The Financial Management Working Party (FMWP) is a major forum for discussion between central and local government officials on financial management and planning matters, accounting issues and rating. The primary focus of the FMWP is the promotion of good practice in financial management and strategic planning in local authorities.
The SOLGM FMWP membership comprises of local authority officers along with representatives of the Office of the Auditor-General, Audit New Zealand, the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) and Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ).

The purpose of the Financial Management Working Party (FMWP) is to provide assistance to the local government sector in achieving high standards of integrated financial management.

The SOLGM Financial Management Working Party holds two major events in the year: Financial Management Seminar (usually held in April) and the Local Government Rating Seminars (usually held in October).
The SOLGM Financial Management Seminar will be held on 12-13 April 2010 in Rotorua. Watch this space for further details.
The Financial Management Working Party meets approximately every 3 months. The last meeting held on 27 November 2009.
