2008 New Zealand Post Group Local Government Excellence Awards
We are now calling for entries to the 2008 New Zealand Post Group Local Government Excellence Awards. 
This year, Society of Local Government Managers (SOLGM) and the New Zealand Post Group re-designed the Awards to recognise and celebrate new ideas that span a wide range of subject matters in local government.
The categories for this year are:

Council-community relationships
This award recognises projects that demonstrate excellence, innovation or sector leadership in engaging with communities to achieve a purpose.

Building organisational capability
This award recognises innovation and sector leadership in building organisational capability which may include projects in human resources, technology, process or system development.

Taking a sustainable approach
This award recognises projects that involve long-term and integrated planning on how present options, decisions and actions may impact the future. This is relevant across a full range of local authority activities.

Joined-up local government
This award recognises projects that involve a local authority working together with one or more other agencies or organisations to advance a common goal.

About the Awards
The New Zealand Post Group Local Government Awards recognise and celebrate local government projects that showcase best practices, innovation and excellence across New Zealand local government. These are the only awards that are solely for local government.
More than the prize, winners gain satisfaction for being recognised by the sector for the work they do. Over the years, councils who won also noted increased morale of their staff and received publicity opportunities throughout the sector and the wider public.
