Palmerston North was buzzing on 6-8 September 2009 as more than 300 local government managers & emerging managers, consultants and vendors to local government, and key people in local and central government organisations got together for 2 and a half days of learning and networking.
The 2009 SOLGM Annual Conference was about 'Leading in Challenging Times', a highly relevant theme especially for local government leaders at this time.
The conference attracted not just the senior managers in local government but those emerging leaders in the sector. The event was well attended with over 60 local authorities from all over New Zealand represented.
The event provided the delegates an opportunity to catch up with colleagues and peers in local government. But more importantly, it gave our local government leaders the opportunity to learn, to develop their leadership skills and to make a difference in the organisation and the community they serve.
