Simpson Grierson SOLGM Conference Attendance Awards

Each year, SOLGM members can apply for travel grants to attend the SOLGM Annual Conference usually held in September. The SOLGM Conference Attendance Awards are given to Full and Associate SOLGM members who have not attended a SOLGM Annual Conference in the past.

These travel grants will help encourage SOLGM members to participate in a worthwhile professional development opportunity and get a chance to network with peers, colleagues and felow SOLGM members.

Recipients may receive upto $1,000 (plus GST) to go towards their travel to attend the SOLGM Annual Conference. Applications for the SOLGM Conference Attendance are usually called for in June prior to the September Annual Conference.

2010 Conference Attendance Awards

Receive up to $1,000 plus GST to be used towards your travel and accommodation costs for attending this year’s SOLGM Annual Conference in Queenstown on 5-7 September.

Who can apply?

SOLGM Full and Associate members who

  • Have not previously attended a SOLGM Annual Conference OR
  • Are from a local authority with a population of less than 15,000 (excluding Chief Executives – except in the case of the Chatham Islands).

The SOLGM Executive Committee will review all applications and successful candidates will be advised by mid July.

2009 Conference Attendance Awardees

The Executive Committee granted 9 SOLGM members the 2009 SOLGM/Simpson Grierson Conference Attendance Awards. The recipients are:

  • Neil McCann - Group Manager, Engineering, South Taranaki District
  • Maree Thompson - Human Resources Manager, Waitaki District
  • David Edmunds - Chief Executive, Far North District
  • Gillian Payne - Strategic Planning Manager, Western Bay of Plenty District
  • Pauline James - Community Services Manager, Stratford District
  • Naomi Woodham - HR and Communications Advisor, Hurunui District
  • John Jones - Operations Manager, Stratford District
  • Helen Brosnan - Corporate Planner, Taupo District
  • Owena Schuster - Democracy and Governance Manager, Waitakere City

Each recipient will receive a cash grant that will go towards their travel and accommodation to the SOLGM Annual Conference in Palmerston North this September. Simpson Grierson
