Purpose of the Conference?
This conference will bring together local government managers and staff involved in community planning process and other agencies working with the sector to define and deliver community outcomes. The theme for 2007 is 'certainty in an uncertain world, seeing what lies beneath'. The programme was designed by a team of practioners in currently working in the sector, and includes several case studies which give this year's conference a pratical focus.
The programme for 2007 has been designed with four broad themes in mind:
- Relationships
- Partnerships and communities
- Different approaches
- The planning environment
Its aims are to:
- address key strategic issues under each of these themes as councils move towards the 2009 LTCCP
- give local government staff who are involved in planning and decisionmaking the opportunity to discuss and share good practice ideas
- look at the relationships between people, organisations and the community, in conjunction with different processes that make for successful LTCCP planning
- identify the converstations that need to take place throughout the planning process
- explore challenges, lessons and good practice through practical case studies
- help make the next round of LTCCPs more strategicall focused
