OVERVIEW

This seminar has been developed for the SOLGM Opus Business School by Dr Claudia Scott, Professor of Public Policy, School of Government, Victoria University.  It offers those, relatively new to policy development, the opportunity to learn the basics and get a feel for good practice.  Presenters include experienced academics and practitioners from local government. Sessions provide an invaluable introduction and overview of the skills and competencies required for policy development in the sector. 

This seminar has now been running for 8 years with outstanding results.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Anyone in the Local Government sector who is:

  • interested in learning more about the theory and practice of policymaking, and its application to local government;
  • wishing to extend their policy capabilities;
  • keen to learn about policy development in local government;
  • considering further study to develop policy analysis skills and competencies.
