Dear :Person_firstname:

After the excitement of our Gala Dinner and Excellence Awards we are back to business as usual with a whole batch of new learning and development offerings.

Don't miss our Webinar: Nothing New Under the Sun - What the Rating Case Law Really Says. This webinar is being presented by Jonathan Salter, Partner, Simpson Grierson, one of New Zealand’s most experienced practitioners in the area of rating law and practice. You can listen live on Wednesday, 3 June or purchase the resulting recording - more details are here.

Registrations have just opened for our annual Community Plan Forum which this year is being held in Christchurch on the 17th and 18th of August. With the theme of "The Journey to 2018 begins here" the Forum will reflect on what has been learned from the big changes to planning and accountability and what should be considered as you begin planning for the next LTP. If you are involved in the direction setting, community planning, and engagement processes at your council this is the Forum for you. Find out more here.

Also new to our calendar, SOLGM have teamed up with Deloitte Forensic to bring you a series of interactive workshops entitled Fraud and Corruption Prevention for Local Government. These are being run in various locations around the country from the 24th of July to the 5th of August. The Workshops will provide you with an understanding of how damaging fraud and corruption offending can be and how to mitigate the risks at your council.

As these are interactive case-based workshops numbers are being limited to 30 people per event so we'd recommend you register today.

One of our annual leading practice forums, the Governance Professionals and Committee Advisors Forum is being held this year in Christchurch on the 24th and 25th of August. This Forum provides the opportunity for council staff working in governance to come together to share knowledge, consider best practice and develop professional capability. We expect to have the programme available in our Event Calendar and registrations to open over the coming week.

If your role includes responsibility for communications you won't want to miss our Local Government Communications Forum on in Wellington on the 15th and 16th of September. We expect to have more information on the programme available in June.

Finally we are often surprised that more local government employees don't know about our LGSectorGoodToolkit™ which includes our online Legal Compliance Programme. This information is only available to councils and has been designed to assist local authorities meet their legal obligations across a range of local government activity. The individual modules are reviewed and updated, with input from Simpson Grierson, as soon as possible following any legislative changes.
