Through Working Parties or jointly with other sector organisations, SOLGM has input into:

Local government policy and legislation development
Development of guidance material and implementation.

Financial Management Working Party

The Financial Management Working Party (FMWP) is a major forum for discussion between central and local government officials on financial management and planning matters, accounting issues and rating.

Electoral Working Party

The Electoral Working Party (EWP) is concerned with the organisation and conduct of local elections.

Strategic Planning Working Party

The SOLGM Strategic Planning Working Party (SPWP) assists the local government sector achieve and maintain high standards of integrated strategic planning and policy development.

Risk Management & Legal Compliance Working Party

The SOLGM Risk Management and Legal Compliance Working Party (RMLCWP) oversees SOLGM's Legal Compliance Programme.

A New Direction for Working Parties

The SOLGM Executive Committee agreed to the new structure of SOLGM working parties and establishment of five new working parties after receiving feedback from members following a consultation conducted last February.
