Guidance on Local Elections Management
The SOLGM Electoral Working Party has developed a range of resources to assist and guide Electoral Officers in local authorities as they manage the local elections.
The SOLGM Electoral Working Party is concerned with the organisation and conduct of local elections.
Its membership includes representatives of Local Government New Zealand, the Ministry of Health, the Department of Internal Affairs and local authority electoral officers.
The resources include:
- Code of Good Practice for the Management of Local Authority Election and Polls - the Code as developed for the 2010 elections is being revised for the 2013 elections
- Election Cost Allocation Template.
These resources are funded by the Industry Good Contribution (IGC) levies paid by councils to SOLGM.
Access to these resources are limited to those staff who work for local authorities who contribute to the SOLGM IGC levy.
If you have questions about these resources or the IGC levy, contact Don Mackay at SOLGM's National Office or phone 04 978 1258.
